I have been pretty sad recently because of the passing of Steve Jobs.
Inspirational, innovative and visionary. I pray that Job's short but meaningful journey on earth will continue to inspire young and old to reach for their dreams.
On a side note, I have been busy, busy, busy with my new home renovation.
What a steep and exciting learning curve for me.
Fun planning the colours and interior.
Husband loaded the iOS 5 for me onto iPad. Not sure what it actually does ha ha... But hope it makes my technology journey more fun and easier :)

iUpset
It's been a while since I last posted on blog.
I had been very upset because the screen on my laptop had blanked out and I had also thought my hard disk has crashed as well!
It's very frustrating.... Ahhh!
I was really grouchy just thinking of having to waste precious time and money finding someone to repair and retrieve my data.
Eventually... My amazing sister resurrected my laptop from watching instructions on YouTube!
I was totally in awe! The power of You tube ...
Waiting to collect my laptop back in a few days time :)

iResign
I was saddened to hear that Steve Jobs has resigned.
I wish him best of health.
Reading the book now... Inside Steve's brain
I have never been a fan of technology till I met the iPhone & iPad.
It has revolutionalized my life and learning, ESP the iPad.
I hope to share more when I have the time.

iDesign
Nowadays all renovation companies will give a 3D design whether they are interior designers or just the old fashioned renovation contractors.
It has became an established practice.
I think it's really great because there is less unpredictability and less chance for miscommunication in the final outcome.

iSpy
Today's post is a little diversion from technology.
iSpy ... Refers to "I spy with my little eyes" ...a favorite game that I play with my kids.
It's amazing how simple games that costs nothing can bring so much joy to the little ones.
It's fun, challenging, competitive and educational.
It's creates interaction and bonding for the family.
Mummies out there... Try it with your kids!

iLaundry
Spent past few days checking out washers and dryers.
It all started when a close friend told me about the air wash function on her Korean washer and her fisher and paykel dryer. She told me having a good washer and dryer can save so much time that I was convinced to start searching.
I interviewed different people... friends, acquaintances, salespeople.
After deliberation, I was quite convinced to still keep my current samsung washer since it was serving me well.
I will buy a Bosch condenser dryer to stack up .... I told myself.
All this changed when I saw the miele washer and dryer yesterday!
It's so cool... I have never seen anything like it before!
(pardon my ignorance )
I was impressed with the technology and I am being persuaded....
But is it worth splurging on it?

iHelpers
Since my flash of "use technology" inspiration, I have began my journey to look for high tech "Helpers" as I prepare to renovate my new home and start a new life without a maid.
Trying to compile of list of appliances that I need to make my transition smoother has been such an adventure.
After research, interviews with friends & salespeople, I have finally formulated a list of roughly what I need.
Here it goes:
Dishwasher
Washing machine and dryer
Induction cooker
Oven
Cleaning robots
Thermomix
Next I have to compare different brands, prices and functions to find an ultimate combination that is value for money with all the functions that I need to make housekeeping, laundry and cooking easy, fast, fuss-free with minimal clean up and maintenance!

iRead
iRead
On my way to Paris & Barcelona in April this year, I picked up a bestseller at the airport bookshop.
I read a chapter every night in Barcelona.
Inspirational...
This book has nothing to do with the industry I work in.
I bought it totally on impulse.
I have never read such books before, just curious about Steve jobs because I own an iPhone and recently an iPad that revolutionalised my life.

iHome
One of the projects I am working right now is our new home.
I come from a society where maids are commonplace in many households, whether mum is working or not.
I grew up having a maid around. Housekeeping, laundry, cooking etc were all delegated to the maid. I have to admit that I am not good at any of the above.
I have made a deliberated decision not to have a live in maid anymore once my current maid returns home end of this year after I shift to my new home. My sons are 4.5 and 3 years old.
I'm nervous.
Because honestly I don't know I will end up faring.
I am not good at housekeeping, dislike doing laundry and ironing.
Cooking? A glipmse of hope here ... I started to learn cooking 9 months ago by default.
My ex maid who went for home leave decided not to come back and I was left stranded without a maid for 3 months!
After eating out everyday for 1 week I decided to pick up cooking.
( I will share more cooking another time)
I prayed to God and asked him to help me and give me ideas.
Somehow the word "use technology" floated out from my heart.
What on earth does that mean? Buy a dishwasher???
Little did I expect that these 2 little words led me to a new journey....

iDirectory
I just learnt something new on cyberspace today.
There are directories for mummy blogs!
I submitted my blog to 2 directories for fun and also to test if I succeed in the submission.
This tech education for me is progressing slowly but steadily :)

iBlog
This blog is my experiment with the cyberworld.
I am not usually in the habit of penning down my thoughts nor writing a diary. I only found out about blogs about 2 years ago. Tried writing one before but gave up after 2 days and have totally forgotten what is blog name and cannot even recall what I blogged about!
This time round, my purpose of blogging is to give myself a chance be more proficient in dealing with IT and also enter the world of a new generation, the younger and future generation.
So, it does not matter whether anyone is reading this because just to blog, I need to learn so many function on my iPad2. So it's an education for me in itself. Self learning.
As you can see I have not put up any photos or pics on my blog still. This is because my laptop has crashed and I need my husband to fix it. And I am blogging using an iPad2 and so far I don't know how to upload pics on the blog.
I am happy that I have managed to even get my blog published yesterday without anyone's assistance. A little pat on my own back!

iTech
I chose a masculine sounding (think..."transformers") name for myself in this blog for several reasons.
I am a feminine lady at heart, tech-idiot all my life, love beautiful things like barbie dolls when I was a kid, never watched transformers.
More skilled at communicating with the pen and paper than a keyboard and screen.
Found out what iTunes was finally... 3 weeks ago.
Learnt to sync my iPhone to laptop also 3 weeks ago.
I have decided to be transformed...
Why?
The 2 energetic bouncing boys in my life are pushing me out of my comfort zone. Aged 4.5 and 3, my two sons are stretching me in many ways.
First I have to learn to play like a boy, then I got learn to watch tv programs that boys like, and hardest of all adapting myself to technology based gadgets that they can handle better than me!
I am not even talking about really difficult high tech stuff... After all how much can a 4 and 3 year old handle? I am talking about playing games on the iPod touch, iPhone, opening a window on my husband's MacBook pro, using the tv remote control....
So, I have made a resolution to be transformed...
To embrace technology instead of avoiding it.
To be future ready instead of future fearful.
To be tech savvy instead of tech dummy.
It took me quite a few months to deliberate over this before coming to this resolution.
It may sound really silly to some and no big deal to others....
But for me,its one of the biggest recent decisions of my life.
So even as I begin this blog, my journey starts now ...
